While in Porvoo, you can explore the Old Town, admire beautiful Christmas settings, and enjoy Christmas music and lights. If you’re lucky, the atmospheric old town might be covered with snow, making the experience even more magical. When you’re ready to eat, there are plenty of delicious lunch options available at some of the city’s great restaurants.

During the first two nights of the tour, you will stay at the stunning RUNO hotel. RUNO, which means “poem” in Finnish, is a perfect name for the hotel as every detail is well-planned and designed, just like a poem. Situated at the entrance of Porvoo Old Town, the hotel provides easy access to the city and its winding cobbled streets. FOUR SEASONS OF FINLAND:

Finland has four distinct seasons. Winter, spring, summer and autumn. They are all different depending where about in Finland you are visiting. Although in southern and central Finland, the snow season lasts from December until March or April, then comes the beautiful spring followed by the lively summer. Autumn months are September-November.

WINTER WEATHER IN SOUTHERN FINLAND:

Winter in Southern Finland usually begins around November-December when temperature drops below zero. The best chance of experiencing the snow-covered capital is in the beginning of the year. The average temperature during the winter is around -4 degrees.

DAY 1

Upon arrival in “the land of a thousand lakes,” you will be picked up from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and transferred to the RUNO hotel in enchanting Porvoo. Spend two nights in Porvoo and immerse yourself in the magical Christmas atmosphere. After settling into your room, take some time to relax before venturing out to explore the old town of Porvoo. For dinner on the first evening, you can either order from RUNO Kitchen to enjoy in your room or visit one of the excellent restaurants in the Old Town. Additionally, you can unwind in the Attic Sauna or indulge in wellness treatments at RUNO Spa.

DAY 2

Start your day with a varied and delicious, but above all, high-quality breakfast. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the town and the Christmas markets. Wander around the cobbled streets of Porvoo and admire the beautiful old wooden buildings. Perhaps visit an art gallery or museum as there are plenty of cultural offerings to suit many tastes.

The old town of Porvoo is one of the most idyllic Christmas towns. You’ll find beautiful –Christmas decorations, music, a traditional carousel, and even Santa himself, along with several market tents with friendly sellers creating a real Christmas spirit! In the evening, book a table at one of the top restaurants you can find in Old Porvoo.

DAY 3

In the morning, you will have time to explore more of Porvoo before your transportation to Haltia Lake Lodge, Espoo. Alternatively, if you wish, you can have a slow morning, enjoy your breakfast, and just relax before the transfer.

Upon arrival, you can check in, settle into your lodge, and immerse yourself in the surrounding nature. The wintry forest offers a unique experience with its snowy trees and beautiful wilderness. On your first night at Haltia, you can simply relax and enjoy a three-course dinner at Restaurant Haltia or choose from the bar menu at Haltia Lake Lodge.

DAY 4

After a restful night at your nest-like lodge, you will have a delicious breakfast before embarking on an exciting snowshoe adventure. The marked trail is approximately 2 km long and winds through the beginner-friendly surroundings of Haltia. You will receive a small backpack from reception containing gourmet camping food for the excursion. The adventure concludes at the public hut below Haltia, where you can prepare your lunch by the fireplace and take in the enchanting snowy forest scenery. For dinner, you can savor delicious meals at Restaurant Haltia or choose from the bar menu at Haltia Lake Lodge.

DAY 5

Have a leisurely morning with a delicious breakfast in a serene setting before your final day in Nuuksio. You will be picked up from Haltia Lake Lodge and taken to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.

Snowshoeing adventure in Nuuksio National Park (self-guided)

Nuuksio National Park offers a perfect setting for an easy and exciting independent snowshoe adventure. The marked trail is approximately 2 km long and it runs through the beginner-friendly surroundings of Haltia. You will get a small backpack from reception with some gourmet camping food. The excursion concludes at the public hut located below Haltia, where you can prepare your lunch by the fireplace and enjoy the magical snowy forest around you.

Transportation in Porvoo-Nuuksio

Private transfer from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport to your accommodation RUNO hotel and back to the airport from Haltia Lake Lodge is always included in the package. The driver will be waiting for you with a name sign in the arrivals hall. Also transportation between RUNO hotel and Haltia is included in the package.
