THE EIGHT SEASONS OF ROVANIEMI:

In Finland there are four distinctive seasons. Spring, summer, autumn and winter. But in Rovaniemi many locals would say that there are actually eight seasons: midwinter, snowy spring, spring, summer, harvest season, autumn leaf color, first snowfall, and Christmas.

SNOW IN ROVANIEMI:

In Rovaniemi, there can be snow for 5-6 months a year – this varies annually. Often the first snow falls already in October, but sometimes we have to wait for it until December. There is usually enough snow until April-May, and often early spring is a beautiful time.

Please note this is a preliminary itinerary which you can modify in our booking system according to your customer´s wishes. Final travel itinerary will be formed depending on your modifications.

Day 1

After you arrive at Rovaniemi Airport, you will be transferred to your accommodation in the Arctic Snowhotel & Glass Igloos in Lehtojärvi. On the first evening, you´ll have time to settle into your glass igloo and admire the beautiful surroundings of the Arctic Snow Hotel.

Day 2

Start your first full day with a delicate breakfast and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. There are some great free activities included in your accommodation. You can join the outdoor games and the hotel guide will show you how to play the traditional Finnish outdoor game, Mölkky, which is a fun and easy game for all ages. Joining the outdoor games is also a great chance for you to meet a local and talk about the local lifestyle and way of living with our guide.

After an active day, you´ll enjoy a traditional Lappish Dinner at Kota restaurant at 7 pm. Witness how salmon is slowly cooked traditionally by the warm glow of the open fire. The ambient lighting of the Kota and the crackling of the fire create a magical atmosphere for dinner.

Day 3

If you wish to experience more exciting Lappish activities book some optional ones for the day. A must-see and most popular place to visit in Rovaniemi is Santa Claus Village. Cross the line of the Arctic Circle, meet Santa Claus himself, visit his official post office, and don´t forget to do some souvenir shopping! This will be an experience to remember! After a long day book a sauna and jacuzzi and experience some Finnish traditions, and if you are lucky witness the northern lights while in the jacuzzi. Also, remember to switch on the “aurora alarm” and the sound will wake you up if the northern lights appear even during the night.

Day 4

Time to experience more magical Lapland and its thrilling activities. Book a visit to the Reindeer farm and meet friendly reindeer or spend your day in hotel surroundings with some free activities. You can find a unique and highly photogenic Pop-up Ice Bar (yes – 100% made of ice) in front of the Kota Restaurant. The Pop-up Ice Bar is open daily on 1.9. – 30.10. (on weather permit) at 18:30-19:00 & 21:30-22:00. The coolest is yet to come: From this bar, you get to buy drinks, which are served from glasses made of ice!

Or maybe head to the shores of Lehtojärvi where you will find “Laavulaituri” a cozy floating lean-to with a fireplace. You can purchase some marshmallows or sausages from the reception and have a barbecue moment on the beach by the fire. Our staff will light the fire on your request.

Day 5

It is time to say goodbye and start your trip home with memories that will last a lifetime. Enjoy your delicious breakfast, take a short stroll in the beautiful surroundings of Arctic Snow Hotel Village, or just relax in your igloo before your transfer to Rovaniemi Airport.

Day 6-8

There are plenty of things to do and experience in Rovaniemi. If you wish to enjoy pure Lappish nature longer than five days book some extra nights. Delicious breakfast will be included in your accommodation daily.

Arctic Snow Hotel and Glass Igloos

Experience the beauty of Lapland and enjoy your stay in warm & cozy glass igloos. The glass-roofed igloos provide you the opportunity to sleep beneath the starry skies and possibility to experience the northern lights. Each igloo is extremely well heat insulated to ensure guests are not bothered by the cold in even the coldest of times at night – the temperature is the same as in normal hotel rooms. Glass igloos are 20m² in size and suitable for 1-3 persons. Each igloo has its own toilet and shower as well as refridgerator, electric kettle, hairdryer.

When staying in a glass igloo, breakfast is included in the accommodation rate and is served at Log restaurant. During the winter months, it is possible to borrow snowshoes, toboggans, snow tubes and kick sledges free of charge. Finnish sauna is included in the accommodation price in common use. If you wish to book sauna in private use and try maybe also snow sauna and/or outdoor jacuzzi, that will be for an additional price.

Finnish Sauna and Outdoor jacuzzi – Experience

When in Finland, do as the Finns do and try Finnish sauna! We are happy to show you traditional Finnish sauna and an outdoor jacuzzi – imagine the fresh air, warm water and hopefully you will see the northern lights as well! The sauna is booked in private use for each party. Towels included in the price. Hotel will book sauna between 10:00-00:00 and client will get information during the check-in.

A Dinner at Kota restaurant

These traditional Lappish delicacies are served around the open fire in the Lappish kota shelter. Witness how salmon is slowly cooked in the traditional way by the warm glow of the open fire. The ambient lighting of the Kota and the crackling of the fire create a magical atmosphere for dinner. Bread and coffee/tea are served with the dinner.

Creamy carrot soup, smoked cheese cream and crispy onion

Main course options (please choose one):
Salmon glow-fried by the open fire, roasted Lappish potatoes and leek, dill-tartar sauce, and anis pickled cabbage-onion salad

Transportation

Private transfer from Rovaniemi Airport to your accommodation and back to the airport is always included in the package. The driver will be waiting for you with a name sign in the arrivals hall.

Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos is located on the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland, in the winter capital of Northern Finland, Rovaniemi. The hotel area lies on the shores of Lake Lehtojärvi in the growing village of Sinettä. The transportation from Rovaniemi airport takes about 40 minutes.
